Kara McIntosh

Kara McIntosh

Kara McIntosh is a contemporary multi-disciplinary artist who lives and works in rural Southern Ontario. Kara’s work begins with a mindful curiosity around the interactions of self and the natural landscape. An essentially visceral process, her marks are rendered with intention, but in a free and loose manner. Stirring from somewhere deep within, Kara’s expressions closely mirror her own path of emotional reflection and self discovery.

Ongoing exploration with oil paint and hooked fibres allow Kara to reference the many textures of place, and serve to push the boundaries of what can inspire connection underfoot, at eye level and above. Her commitment to colour, line and movement engage the viewer to find their own experience in the abstracted landscapes.

Since 2015, Kara has been exhibiting in both independent solo and group shows, art fairs and curated shows in public galleries. She has taken part in a number of well established artist residencies in Canada.

Kara lives in Nottawa, ON with her family and works full-time from her studio in the historic Tremont building in downtown Collingwood. Kara’s work can be found in many private and corporate collections in Canada, the US, Europe and Australia.
