This tea blend is inspired by the signature Onyx Delight latte, a beverage typically made with espresso, milk, honey, vanilla, and cinnamon. One can savor this interpretation of the blend, featuring a single estate Dian Hong black tea from Yunnan province, China, commonly known as "the motherland of tea." The incorporation of rolled oats lends a creamy texture, while the cinnamon pieces and natural vanilla and honey flavorings bring a comforting sweetness.
The Onyx Delight latte stands as arguably the most classic beverage on the menu at Onyx Coffee Lab, and undoubtedly the most popular latte across all of its locations. Crafted to be sweet, approachable, welcoming, and simply delightful, it has become a favorite among patrons. The team is excited to introduce an adapted version of this beloved drink in the form of a tea blend designed to evoke the same delight. It is highly encouraged to enjoy this blend plain or with a steamed milk of your choice.
ABOUT THIS BLEND The base tea for this creative blend is a single estate Dian Hong black tea from the Yunnan Province in Southwest China, often referred to as “The Motherland of Tea”. It is sourced from the leaves of the Yunnan Big Leaf (Da Ye) Tea Trees. Dianhong is characterized by the abundance of fine leaf buds, or "golden tips," present in the dried tea. When brewed, this tea produces a cup with a sweet and gentle aroma. The organic oat component that lends this blend its creamy texture is processed from gluten-free oats that are steamed, flattened, air-dried, and then cooled. The cinnamon pieces are simply cut and sifted. Lastly, the addition of all-natural vanilla and honey flavors brings the signature element of sweetness, balance, and delight.
BLACK TEA Black tea undergoes oxidation to a greater extent than oolong, white, and green teas. After plucking and withering, the tea leaves are rolled, crushed, chopped, or otherwise bruised to encourage oxidation to reach 90-100%. Factors such as temperature and humidity are tightly controlled before drying. The resulting brew tends to be stronger in flavor and usually boasts a deep reddish color. Many Asian countries refer to black tea as “red tea” due to the color of the tea liquor after steeping.
ABOUT THE SACHETS The pyramid tea sachets are designed to provide ample room for the tea leaves to unfurl and expand as they steep. These sachets are crafted from PLA Mesh (NeoSoilon®) material derived from 100% non-GMO sugar cane. Each sachet comes pre-dosed, ensuring that one can enjoy a great cup of tea conveniently.
